This 1940s home was redesigned from its existing structure to showcase the very latest in energy efficiency, while working to conserve natural resources and make less of a footprint on the environment.
All systems and appliances throughout the home were upgraded to more energy-efficient models, including fluorescent and low-voltage lighting, high-performance shower heads and low-flow toilets. Insulation was upgraded throughout the home to beyond what building code requires.
Many original materials were retained or reused. Salvaged, reclaimed and earth-friendly products were used whenever possible. Natural materials that are both low toxic and durable add timeless beauty to the design.
